Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the General Manager, greets, seats and cashes out customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedules dining reservations and arranges parties or special services for diners.
  • Greets guests, escorts them to tables, and provides menus.
  • Adjusts complaints of patrons.
  • Provides prompt and courteous service to patrons.
  • Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.
  • Computes bills, itemizes lists and balances tickets.
  • Makes change, cashes checks and issues receipts or tickets to patrons.
  • Records amounts received and prepare reports of transactions.
  • Reads and records total shown on cash register tape and verify it against cash on hand.
  • Quotes prices and describes features of items for which money is received.
  • Gives cash refunds or issues credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Some experience in the restaurant or food service area preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

  • Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations and customer service.
  • Knowledge of all menu items including entrees, side dishes, beverages and deserts.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing with other staff and general public.
  • Ability to service customers in a professional appearance and manner.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a stressful and busy environment.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in the dining room and kitchen area with exposure to heat, fumes and steam. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
