Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Convenience Store Assistant Manager, schedules daily duties, coordinates, and leads the day-to-day activities of Cashiers, and performs shift management duties as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides cashiers with direct support to successfully complete the functions of their position.
  • Conduct periodic interior/exterior walkthroughs as outlined in daily duty sheet.
  • Implement cashier daily duty sheet and verify completion of work prior to end of shift
  • Ensures adequate register coverage and covers staff, as required.
  • Communicate changes in policy, procedures, promotions, and prices to cashiers on a consistent basis.
  • Works with cashiers to resolves discrepancies with customers, always keeping the best interest of the business in mind.
  • Reconciles cash drawers and daily reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitors general cleanliness ensuring that equipment and facilities remain in good repair, and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained.
  • Motivates cashiers to provide quality customer service through leading by example
  • Trains cashiers in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Practices and leads staff in making sound business decisions to protect business assets including cash/cash equivalents, premises, records/information, and equipment to guarantee minimal shrinkage and loss.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and two years experience in customer service, operations or sales. One year supervisory experience preferred. Must be 21 years of age and have current alcohol certification. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. Native American preference will be given.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

  • Working knowledge of cash register operations, safe cash handling procedures, and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language both verbally and through written communication including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Must be able to use math skills to apply discounts, count cash, issue change, etc.
  • Experienced in providing customer service in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures and address cashier performance in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to lead a diverse team of various backgrounds, experience, and skill sets.
  • Ability to address and solve problems with cashiers and customers in a timely manner.
  • Ability to operate a computerized cash register.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle/touch/feel reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and climb stairs. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this position include depth perception, close/distant, color, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office, retail and/or warehouse setting with a moderate noise level. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours may be required.
